The TOEFL iBT exam is a 120 marks exam, the scores of which are used by over 10,000 colleges all around the globe for admission. If you are aiming for an A grade college, scoring well in this exam is a must. The test comprises of 4 sections, namely reading, writing, speaking and listening, each of equal weight.

The preparation strategy should go like this:

šThe reading section, has 3 or 4passages each about 700 words long, followed by questions of the type multiple choice, inserting a sentence, and reading to learn. An ideal plan would be devoting 30% of your preparation time on developing your reading skills.
šThe listening section comprises of four to six lectures and two to three conversations, each played only once. It is advised not to spend more than 25% of your preparation time here, as the question only require your attention, grasping power and basic English knowledge.
š£The speaking section the shortest section that lasts about 20minutes and if answered properly can fetch you most marks. It comprises of 6 tasks each followed by a question, which needs to be answered verbally. Being the shortest section it doesnāt demand more than 20% of your total preparation time.
āš»The writing section comprises of 2 tasks, one of 20 and another of 30 minutes. The best and worst part about this section is that it automatically gets prepared when you prepare for the other 3 parts, all you need to keep in mind while answering is to form a clear opinion (preferably supporting the easier side). Sounds easy, but it isnāt, one must spend at least 25% of time preparing for writing section as it is very crucial and this is the part where the score of most of the students drop.
